Dorota Szadurska, Cat Behaviourist: Services and Fees
As part of my professional practice, I provide behavioural consultations to help cats and their caregivers address behavioural problems arising from a wide range of underlying causes. I also deliver lectures, workshops and professional training aimed at promoting a better understanding of feline behaviour and welfare.
Behavioural Consultations:
The concerns most frequently reported by caregivers include:
- elimination outside the litter tray;
- fear and difficulties in the cat-caregiver relationship;
- aggressive behaviour;
- depressive-like behaviour and behavioural withdrawal;
- intercat tension, conflict and problematic relationships between cats living in the same household;
- other behavioural changes or concerns that cause caregivers to worry about their cat.
Consultation format: in the client's home or online.
Consultations are also available in Polish.
Consultation duration: approximately 2 hours.
Consultation fee: € 85 / £ 70 / $ 95
To arrange an online consultation, please send me an email with a brief description of the problem. In my reply, I will explain what information and supporting material I need in order to carry out the behavioural assessment. An online consultation lasts approximately the same amount of time as an in-person consultation, so please allow around 2 hours for the appointment. The standard consultation fee also applies to online consultations. Any video material specified in my instructions must be sent to me before the consultation so that I have sufficient time to review and analyse it in advance.
During a behavioural consultation, or while analysing the material sent to me before an online meeting I collect a detailed behavioural history and information relating to the presenting problem. I observe the cat or cats and develop an initial behavioural management and intervention plan. A substantial part of the consultation involves talking with you and gaining a detailed understanding of the cat's daily life. I observe how you interact and play with your cat, explore the cat's relationships with individual members of the household and assess the feline environment — in other words, your flat or house — to determine whether it is appropriately organised and whether it provides sufficient opportunities for the cat to feel secure, exercise environmental control and express species-specific behaviour. I also explain the fundamental principles underlying feline behaviour and communication. In the case of an online consultation, I need to assess most of these elements in advance through the video material you provide.
If anything about your cat's behaviour concerns you, or if you are unsure what your cat may be trying to communicate, please feel free to contact me. Please remember, however, that resolving a feline behavioural problem is in many ways comparable to family therapy. There is no magic pill that can instantly resolve a complex behavioural situation. Caregivers need to understand that much of the work involved in improving the cat's welfare and helping the cat regain a sense of security, comfort and enjoyment of life will rest with them. Ultimately, however, the positive effects are usually felt by the entire household as well :)

Lectures, Workshops and Professional Training:
I deliver lectures, workshops and training sessions at a fee arranged individually for the particular event, plus travel expenses. I offer educational sessions covering behavioural problems and behaviours of concern, intercat tension and conflict in multi-cat households, the interpretation of feline communication and behavioural signals, and a wide range of other subjects relating to feline behaviour, welfare and the human-cat relationship.
